Edo Queens made a resounding start to their CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers by defeating AS Garde 5-0.

The match took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Nigeria.

Emem Essien opened the scoring in the 35th minute for the Nigerian champions. Captain Suliat Abideen doubled the lead just before half-time, converting from the penalty spot.

In the second half, Edo Queens continued their dominance when Moses Esther added her name to the scoresheet, and Essien netted again, scoring a brace for the team.

The win places Moses Adukwu’s ladies at the top of their group with three points.

In the other group match, Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and AS Etincelle of Burkina Faso played to a 0-0 draw, leaving them tied with one point each.

Edo Queens will face Hasaacas Ladies in their next fixture as they aim to secure a spot in the tournament’s next round.
