Moses Aduku, head coach of Edo Queens, has confirmed that his contract with the club expired after the team’s participation in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
In a recent interview on Brila.net’s No Holds Barred programme, Aduku explained that while he had been in discussions with the club’s chairman during the tournament in Morocco, the recent change in government has altered the direction of those talks.
Currently on holiday in his home state of Bayelsa, Aduku is hopeful that the club would reach out to him regarding a new contract.
However, he also made it clear that if the talks do not progress, he knows what his next steps will be.
Aduku, who guided Edo Queens to both the NWFL and WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers titles during his two-year tenure, also discussed challenges faced by Nigerian coaches, particularly the lack of CAF licensing courses since 2017.
He was unable to be on the sidelines for the team’s matches in Morocco due to this issue, but he hopes to be included in future training programs aimed at helping local coaches advance their qualifications.
In the same interview, Aduku also addressed the delayed financial rewards for his team following their participation in the CAF Women’s Champions League, where they finished in fourth place.
He stated that the squad is currently on a break but will meet next week in Benin, where they are expected to receive the promised funds from the state government, which is also set to include the new governor in their discussions.
