NWFL Champions, Edo Queens will begin their journey to qualify for the 4th edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, at the WAFU-B Qualifiers will take place in Abidjan, in August.

WAFU-B confirmed the venue and dates for this year’s Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, announcing that the tournament will run from August 10 to 23, 2024.

Champions from seven countries in the WAFU-B Zone, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger Republic, Nigeria, and Togo, will compete for the sole spot in the finals.

Edo Queens, who secured their first Nigerian title last month in Yenagoa by topping the Premiership Super Six table, will represent Nigeria in the qualifiers.

Historically, the finals of the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers have often featured a showdown between Nigerian and Ghanaian teams.

In the inaugural 2021 tournament, Rivers Angels of Nigeria reached the final but were defeated by Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies.

Bayelsa Queens won the second edition in 2022, beating Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa 3-0 in Côte d’Ivoire.

However, in the 2023 edition, Ampem Darkoa edged out Nigeria’s Delta Queens with a 1-0 victory.

Côte d’Ivoire has previously hosted two of the three past editions of the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in 2021 and 2022, while Benin City, Nigeria, hosted the 2023 edition.
