Edo Queens FC, Nigeria’s WAFU B champions, departed have arrived Morocco, where they’ll participate in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The competition is set to run from November 6 to November 23.
Having triumphed in the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers with a 3-0 victory over Ainonvi FC, Edo Queens are ready to compete against top clubs in Africa.
The team is placed in Group A alongside the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Egypt’s FC Masar, and Ethiopia’s CBE.
Their first match is scheduled for November 10 against CBE at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Ahead of their departure, the captain, Efemweokiekie Osakpolor, assured the team is determined to achieve success.
Yusuf Alli, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, encouraged the players to replicate their previous success from the WAFU Zone B championship, stating that they have the support needed to succeed.
“Everything is set in place for us to go to Morocco and conquer, just like we did in Ivory Coast… We will come here with a cup. I’m dead sure that the cup is coming to Nigeria.”
