Granada fought back from an early deficit to defeat Levante 3-2 in a Spanish Women’s League clash on Sunday, with Nigeria-eligible forward Edna Imade playing a key role in the victory.
The match at the Ciudad Deportiva del Bunel started with Levante taking the lead in the 9th minute, courtesy of a goal from Ana Franco. However, Granada mounted a strong comeback in the second half.
Edna Imade, who has been in sensational form this season, leveled the score in the 53rd minute with a well-placed shot.
Just three minutes later, Laura Requena put Granada in the lead for the first time, and Alexia extended the advantage in the 62nd minute, giving the visitors a 3-1 cushion.
Levante managed to pull one back late in the game through Ines Rizo, but it wasn’t enough to deny Granada all three points.
Imade’s goal was her seventh in just 11 league appearances this season.
The 24-year-old forward, who was born in Morocco to Nigerian parents and raised in Spain, has not yet declared her international allegiance but remains eligible to play for Nigeria, Spain, or Morocco.
With the win, Granada moved up to 9th place in the Spanish women’s top division, having accumulated 13 points from 11 matches.
