Echiejile confident Helsinki will bounce back from Inter defeat

Super Eagles left-back Elderson Echiejile has expressed confidence that he and his HJK Helsinki teammates will work hard to return to winning ways after their 4-1 loss away to FC Inter Turku in a league game at the Veritas Stadium, Turku on Monday Night.

Echiejile scored his first Finnish Veikkausliiga goal in his second start for his club in the defeat and remains confident ahead of Friday’s home clash with Ilves.

“My goal wasn’t enough to give us the victory we needed yesterday, but we will work harder next game,” Echiejile wrote on his Instagram Page.

The Nigeria international shot Helsinki into an early lead after two minutes, but parity was restored for FC Inter eight minutes later through Timo Furuholm. Furuholm doubled FC Inter’s lead in the 19th minute.

Meanwhile, his compatriot, Friday Obilor was sent off for a reckless tackle on an opponent to hand the host a numerical advantage.

HJK Helsinki dropped to the fourth position in the table with the latest result. They had bagged two wins and three draws prior to the defeat at FC Inter.
