Super Eagles stars, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and John Ugochukwu Ogu has expressed their confidence in the Eagles ability to soar against any team drawn with the Super Eagles.
Speaking with brila.net, Former Ifeanyi Ubah number one goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa submitted that whichever group the Eagles find themselves, they will surely give their best due to the bond as well as the closeness amongst the players.
“The solidarity and the unity within the team is what will help us soar above any team in our group,” Ezenwa told brila.net
Meanwhile, in an exclusive telephone chat, Hapoel beer Sheva midfielder, John Ogu also added his voice of confidence in the Eagles.
Ogu said the Super Eagles is good enough at the moment as well as a very experienced technical crew, even as the country’s football is on the right track.
Ogu further stressed that the team is not afraid of being drawn to any top team, saying the team has all it takes to do well against any team come Russia.
Nigeria made light work of a difficult group in African qualifying, making it to Russia with a game to spare despite being drawn against reigning African champions Cameroon.
They also took on Algeria – who reached the second round of the 2014 World Cup – and Zambia, who won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012.
Nigeria is joined by Senegal and three North African nations – Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia – in Friday’s draw, which starts at 1500 GMT.
Only three African teams have ever reached the quarter-finals at a World Cup: Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010).
The 2018 World Cup will run between 14 June and 15 July, when the final will take place in the Russian capital Moscow.
