Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface is on the brink of a sensational transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr after undergoing medicals.
The Nigerian striker, who has impressed in the Bundesliga despite battling injuries this season, is now at the center of a high-profile deal as Al Nassr aims to strengthen its attack with one of Europe’s rising stars.
According to Sky Germany, Al Nassr and Leverkusen have reached a total agreement on a transfer fee exceeding €60 million. Boniface is expected to earn an eye-watering €15 million net per season once the deal is finalized.
This move will see the Super Eagles star join forces with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, as Al Nassr reshapes its attacking lineup.
Boniface is set to replace Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca, who recently moved to Fenerbahce.
Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso acknowledged Boniface’s imminent departure while addressing the media ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Sparta Prague.
“There is this situation, and I understand that,” Alonso said. “There are discussions with the club. We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.”
