Dutch Champions Ajax Amsterdam sign Calvin Bassey for €23m

Ajax have announced the signing of Nigeria international Calvin Bassey from Glasgow Rangers.

The Dutch Club made the announcement via their official Website on Wednesday.

Ajax beat Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa to the signature of the Italian born Defender.

The club confirmed the transfer fee to be in the region €23 million including bonuses, which could see the fee increase to €26.5 million.

The 22 year-old player signed a long term contract with Ajax, according to the statement on its website the Dutch champions disclosed that:

“The English Nigerian player has signed a contract with Ajax that will take effect immediately and will run for five seasons, until June 30, 2027.”

Calvin Bassey has since joined Ajax training camp in Austria for pre-season.
