D’Tigress Breeze Into Quarter-finals

Nigeria WNBT, the D’Tigress, made it two wins out of two games at the ongoing FIBA Women’s Afrobasket Championship, beating Egypt 65-83 to qualify for the quarter-final of the competition.

D’Tigress had it going in the first quarter when they took the lead 10-18 and then continued the momentum into the second quarter in a match they had dominated all day, opening a 19-point lead at half-time.

The Nigerian Ladies left nothing to their Egyptian counterparts, but the North African found some momentum in the third quarter and led 19-14 at the end

Similarly, Egypt maintained the same energy in the early stages of the fourth quarter as they put up a resistance against the holders, and even cut down the lead to 11 points at a point and actually crawled back into the game.

However, D’Tigress roared back, rallied to a 15-point lead and were able to stabilize the game, opening up their 20-point lead and with over a minute-and-a-half to go, to round off the game with a 65-83 points victory.

Rena Wakama’s team clinched top spot in group D with a 2-0 record heading into the final 8.
