Jose Peseiro will be without Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Osimhen for the friendly against Mozambique on Monday.
Osimhen and Iheanacho, according to the Super Eagles media team, left the camp in Portugal for their respective bases.
Victor Osimhen sustained what was suspected to be a hamstring injury against Saudi Arabia last Friday, while Kelechi Iheanacho was excused due to personal matters – he lost his brother.
Yet, Peseiro is bullish ahead of the encounter, insisting he has forwards who can send packing the Southern Africans in their fifth meeting with Nigeria at senior level.
“We will miss Kelechi and Victor, but we have other good players who can make Nigeria proud. I look at the bench and see players who can step up and take their chances.”
With Osimhen and Iheanacho out of contention, Peseiro will count on the services of Sadiq Umar, Ademola Lookman and Samuel Chukwueze for the game.
The clash with the Mambas is the last gathering for the three-time African champions before the race to the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins.
Nigeria will host Lesotho and then fly to play Zimbabwe away, all within a few days in November.
