Nigerian stars Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun will not feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage next season after Rangers were eliminated in the second-round qualifiers.

The Scottish side was defeated 0-2 at home by Dynamo Kyiv on Tuesday, ending their hopes of advancing in the tournament.

Dessers played the full 90 minutes but was unable to score for the Gers, while Balogun remained on the bench throughout the match.

Dynamo Kyiv secured victory with two late goals at Hampden Park after Rangers’ winger Jefte was sent off.

Ukrainian substitutes Oleksandr Pikhalyonok and Nazar Voloshyn struck within two minutes, sealing Rangers’ fate and relegating them to the Europa League for the second consecutive season.
