Onuwa Chukwuka has said he wouldn’t stop MFM FC teammates Stephen Odey and Sikiru Olatubosun from joining the Super Eagles camp if he had the powers to do so.
Odey and Olatubosun made the initial list of 25 players invited by Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr for the the friendlies against Corsica and Togo.
However, whilst the two fought for their national team futures, NPFL side MFM FC have struggled since the resumption of the league.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men have won only one of their previous five matches and were trounced 3-0 by Niger Tornadoes last weekend.
The combo of Odey and Olatunbosun shot the Lagos based club to second on the NPFL log in the first half of the season, but their form has dipped and though they featured in the goalless draw against Akwa United, Onuwa maintains everything will get back to normal again.
The midfielder is confident, that the club bounce back and pursue a top two finish this season.
“I hear a lot of talk about us missing Odey and Olatubosun. It could be true that they have contributed a lot to our goals this season, but we play with 11 men every game.
“It means we can get result if we keep our focus, and I’m sure we’ll work towards it.
“If I could I wouldn’t stop them from joining the Super Eagles camp, after all that is the dream of every player,” Onuwa told brila.net
The two attackers who are still with the Eagles in Paris where they’ll play Togo on Thursday night, will likely miss Sunday’s clash against FC Ifeanyi Ubah in Lagos.
