Super Falcons striker Desire Oparanozie has announced her retirement from international football and club football.
The forward made the announcement on Wednesday.
“To my fans, family, and friends, thank you for the show of love and support over the years. It’s time to take a bow, as I believe there’s no better time than now.”
“I’m officially announcing my retirement from professional football for both club and country.” She said in a statement on Twitter.
The experience forward enjoyed numerous highlight moments, including the 2016 WAFCON winner against Cameroon in Yaounde.
Oparanozie also scored in the final of the 2010, 2014 and 2016 AWCON tournaments all won by the Super Falcons.
The 29-year-old made her the Super Falcons debut in 2010 and went on to earn 35 caps, scoring 22 goals.
She featured at four FIFA women’s World Cup 2011, 2015,2019 -and 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
