Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro defends Emmanuel Dennis over the penalty miss against Portugal on Thursday.
Dennis, a second-half substitute missed a golden opportunity to make the score line 2-1 from the spot after Bright Osayi-Samuel was fouled in the box.
The Nottingham Forest attacker missed after what looked like an argument between him, captain William Troost-Ekong and Onuachu on who should take the penalty.
Speaking after the game, Peseiro said, he has no issue with the player.
“No problem, he has my protection, he played the penalty and missed, maybe next time, he’ll train more and score a penalty. We need to defend our players.
“Which player in the world has not missed a penalty? He asked.
Portugal won the tie 4-0 and Peseiro’s Eagles remain without a win against top opposition.
