Demehin’s pens Message to Fans as Nigeria advance in U20 Women’s World Cup

Super Falconets defender Tosin Demehin has pleaded with Nigerians keep supporting the team as they chase a first ever world cup title.

Demehin made the appeal after the team dismantled Canada in their last Group game this Thursday morning.

The Falconets conceded first following goalkeeper Omini Oyono’s error that allowed Kala Novak a fortuitous goal, two minutes into the game.

Esther Onyenezide, scored from the penalty spot in the 24th minute to pull the Falconets level after Defender Mia Pante had handled the ball from a Blessing Okpe shot in the box.

Nigeria went ahead, also from the spot, in the 32nd minute minute, after Simi Awujo’s dangerous play against Mercy Idoko.

The latter went for a header from Rofiat Imuran’s in-swinger, and the Canadian defender was penalized for a high boot challenge.

Victory was sealed in stoppage time when Imuran, again with a visionary cross, set up substitute Chioma Olise for Nigeria’s third goal.

“We wouldn’t be the TEAM that we are without you. Thank you all for your support in the group stage, We need more of it in the knockout stage” She posted on her social media page.

Their campaign in the group stage earns the Falconets a quarter-final date with The Netherlands in Alajuela as from 1am on Monday (Nigeria time).
