Midfielder Deborah Abiodun is still in shock following the Falconets’ unexpected exit from the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The midfielder in a post on her social media handle stated that their exit from the tournament is a bitter pill to swallow, however, she’s confident they’ll be back stronger on the world stage sooner.
“Still struggling to come to terms with the reality that our promising U20 Women’s World Cup campaign had come to an unexpected end.”
“Amidst pains, I feel proud about the experience gained from my first ever FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup outing. Hope to be back better on the big stage.” She Said.
The Falconets enjoyed a good ride from the Group phase, advancing to the quarter-finals as Group C winner, beating South Korea, France, and Canada.
Their impressive form earned them the tournament favorites tag, before the shocking 2-0 to the Dutch U20 ladies in Alajuela on Sunday.
