Super Falcons midfielder, Deborah Abiodun continues to make waves in collegiate soccer, becoming a key figure for the University of Pittsburgh during the 2024 NCAA Division I women’s soccer season.

In her sophomore year, the 21 year-old standout earned her place on the Second Team All-ACC, upgrading her status as one of the top players in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for the second year in a row.

This recognition comes on the heels of Pitt’s conclusion to their regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record and a 3-5-2 mark in conference play.

Abiodun’s season did not start as planned, as she was sidelined for six games due to injury before the ACC season commenced.

However, she made an impactful return by scoring her first goal of the season in a victory over Clemson on October 3, 2024.

The midfielder’s form peaked when She followed this up with a better performance against Syracuse, scoring a brace to lead the Panthers to a 3-0 victory at Ambrose Urbanic Field, which earned her a spot in the PNC Achievers of the Week.

The Ibadan-born midfielder crucial goal-scoring contributions included Pitt’s only goal against Florida State on October 20, where she led her team with a total of four goals in ACC play, making her the Panthers’ top scorer in the conference.

Before her collegiate career, Abiodun was part of Rivers Angels Football Club in Nigeria’s Women’s Football League, where her performances caught the eye of international scouts.

This earned her a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, where she has since become an integral part of the women’s soccer team.
