Former Super Eagles Defender, Ifeanyi Udeze has cited a personal experience at making a costly error while plying his trade at West Bromwich Albion in the EPL.
Udeze, 37, was reacting to Nigeria and Chippa United’s goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi’s mistake in the glamour game against Argentina on Tuesday night.
“I made such a costly mistake when I was in England,” I was supposed to pick up the ball for a throw-in, but I did something else, the opponent picked up and threw-in, the move led to a goal”. Udeze told brila.net.
My then Manager, Gary Megson was angry, very mad at me. He substituted me after 15minutes. “After the game, I asked the Coach why he removed me, He said my mind has been affected by such error”.
The former West Bromwich Albion defender cited his personal experience while reacting to Akpeyi’s error in the Argentina game, and the goalkeeper’s alleged statement blaming the match referee.
“Daniel should learn from his mistake and move on” This is not the time to shift blames, Gary Megson told me the same thing at WBA, and I’m glad I learned from the situation.
Chippa United’s goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi had conceded a freekick that led to Argentina’s first goal by Ever Banega after picking up the ball outside the goalkeeper area on Tuesday night in Krasnodar.
The costly mistake has seen a lot of pundits and football lovers rate Akpeyi low and substandard for the Eagles potential world cup squad.
