Falconets Head Coach Christopher Danjuma insists the referee was wrong to deny his side a penalty against the Netherlands in Sunday’s encounter.
With the Dutch leading 2-0 with a few minutes to go, the African had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee, despite replays showing the Dutch defender fouling Flourish Sabastine in the Netherlands box.
Reacting to the incident, Danjuma strongly believes his girls were hard done by the decision.
“I’ve always been indifferent about it because everybody has a job. If the referee from her discretion felt it‘s not a penalty and everybody saw it, she has the whistle.”
“She calls the shots. I have every hope that penalty would have helped us drag the game into extra time.” He said.
The Falconets however bowed out of the tournament, and are expected to be back in the country on Tuesday.
