Copper charges Awoniyi to build on Game-winning Performance

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has challenged Taiwo Awoniyi to build on his performance against West Ham United.

Awoniyi made the headline, when he scored the winning goal that earned the two-time European Champions their first Premier League win in 23-years.

Cooper praised the £18m summer signing for his contributions against the Hammers last Sunday.

“He was good,” Cooper said via Forest Watch. “Hopefully he gets headlines for his performance because he was a real handful, particularly first half.”

The Welsh manager however added that the performance would give the Nigeria international much needed confidence to deliver more goals for the team.

“His tenacity and in his general play, he was a real big threat for us and a big reason we could play high up the pitch. I’m really happy with him. He’s settled in well off the pitch.

“Playing as he did and scoring will obviously help him be the player he will be on the pitch for us,” Cooper added.

Awoniyi is expected to be in action again when travel to Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
