Napoli head coach Antonio Conte has voiced his frustration over the ongoing transfer dispute involving star striker Victor Osimhen and the club’s management.

The situation left Osimhen sidelined from pre-season games and Napoli’s Serie A opener against Verona, which the team lost 3-0.

Conte, clearly exasperated by the saga, stated that he remains a spectator in the matter but urged the club’s management to find a swift resolution.

“This is a question you have to ask the club, not me,” Conte told Football Italia.

“I see that Osimhen has been training separately since his return. You need to ask the club, not me. From the beginning, I’ve positioned myself as a spectator in this story.”

Beyond the Osimhen issue, Conte stated the need for Napoli to enhance the overall quality of the squad if they are to remain competitive.

“But beyond a single player, we need to have a different attitude, with more personality and desire,” the Napoli Coach added.

“I’ve noticed that some of the younger players struggle with challenges, which is concerning because you can’t develop that mentality overnight. It requires time and patience to help them grow.”

Napoli didn’t qualify for Europe this season after a disastrous title defence in 2023-2024 campaign.
