Napoli manager, Antonio Conte has once again left star striker Victor Osimhen out of his pre-season plans, this time excluding him from the squad for Sunday evening’s friendly against Egnatia.

Osimhen, who was benched in the previous pre-season match, was not included in the squad at all for the game against Egnatia.

This move highlights Conte’s strategy as he anticipates the Nigerian forward’s departure, aiming to replace him with Romelu Lukaku.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided insight into the situation via a post on X, stating:

“Victor Osimhen, not even on the bench for Napoli tonight as plan of both parties remains clear.

“Osimhen wants to leave, Napoli want to bring in Lukaku. Talks with PSG are in stand-by since Monday at current conditions. Chelsea like Osimhen but won’t pay the clause.”

Despite Osimhen’s absence, Napoli secured a convincing 4-0 victory in the match.
