Comeback win over Olah at German Open excites Quadri

African number one Aruna Quadri is delighted with his stunning performance at the ongoing 2020 German open on Wednesday.

The Nigerian produced tough character to come back from three games down to beat Finnish Benedek Olah 4-3 at the ongoing German Open on Wednesday.

 

Aruna Quadri fought back to claim a 4-3 win (7-11, 5-11,10-12,11-6,11-7,11-6,11-8), to secure a passage into the next round of the German Open and aveage his defeat in the final of the 2016 Nigeria Open to Olah.

 

The world number 18 however said after the win that he would like to do farther than he ever did at the tournament.

 

“I really started poorly and found myself trailing 3-0, I did my best to get into the game but nothing was working for me. I have no answer for his back hand, he made so many mistakes leading 3-0, I dug deep and got back into the contest. I want to go farther than I ever did at the tournament, it is going be difficult. Nothing is impossible,”

 

The highest ranked African player ever booked a spot in the round of win over Hunor Szocs.

 

Meanwhile Egypt’s Omar Assar African earned a  4-1 (11-6, 9-11, 12-10, 11-6,11-4) win over Xiang Peng.
