Coach Madugu Celebrates Super Falcons Win at CAF Awards

The Super Falcons have been crowned the best women’s national team at the 2024 CAF Awards, and their coach, Justin Madugu, couldn’t be more thrilled with the recognition.

“It’s always a thing of joy and we really must appreciate the effort of the players, the federation, and all members of the team for achieving that feat,” Madugu said after the win.

“Like we said, it was not easy with all the various challenges raised by the team, but we were able to do well. We were able to distinguish ourselves and we’re beginning on a new path.”

Madugu explained the importance of the win not just for the team, but for Nigeria as a whole.

“It’s a good thing for Nigeria and it’s a new challenge for us,” he added.

“For you to be rated as the best in Africa, it means every other person will also want to do better than you.”

“For us, it’s another motivation to keep going, to work harder, and to ensure that this status we’ve attained is sustained.”

The Super Falcons’ victory was marked by a heartfelt ceremony where the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, received the award on behalf of the team.

Gusau was proud of the team’s achievement, appreciating their consistent commitment to excellence.

“We’re happy to receive the award for best female national team again,” Gusau said.

He also took a moment to recognize the contributions of Nigeria’s First Lady, who has played a vital role in supporting the team.

With this victory, the Super Falcons continue to set the bar high in African women’s football, and they’re determined to maintain their top position on the continent ahead of the 2025 WAFCON.
