Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge have reportedly set a €20 million asking price for Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, as speculation about his January departure intensifies.
The 23-year-old has been a consistent performer for Nicky Hayen’s side this season, earning admiration for his displays in domestic competitions and the UEFA Champions League. Despite being linked to several clubs in recent times, Onyedika’s move away from Brugge has yet to materialize.
Last summer, Turkish giants Galatasaray came close to securing his signature after agreeing on personal terms. However, their €5 million bid was rejected by Club Brugge, who were unwilling to sanction the transfer.
Onyedika’s form has continued to attract attention, with several Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. Brugge are now willing to entertain offers of €20 million or more, as reported by Belgian outlet Voetbalprimeur.
“After the great European performances, Raphael Onyedika and Joël Ordoñez are at the forefront of the shop window,” the report states.
“If a bid of €20 million or more comes in from the Premier League, Bart Verhaeghe and co will treat it soberly, even though the urge to push through to the Champions League remains strong.”
Onyedika joined Club Brugge in 2022 from Danish side FC Midtjylland for €9 million. Since then, he has cemented his place in the team with standout performances, including winning the club’s Player of the Month award for September this season. His rise has not been without controversy, as he faced criticism following a red card incident against Charleroi, but he remains a key figure in Brugge’s midfield.
In preparation for his possible departure, Club Brugge have reportedly identified a potential replacement. According to Belgian media outlets citing Germanijak.hr, 22-year-old Croatian midfielder Leon Belcar is among the candidates being considered. Belcar, currently playing for NK Varaždin, has impressed with his performances and could strengthen Brugge’s midfield if Onyedika leaves.
As the January transfer window unfolds, Onyedika’s future will be closely watched, with both fans and potential suitors eager to see where the talented midfielder’s next chapter lies.
