Werder Bremen sporting director Clemens Fritz has pointed to Victor Boniface’s physical condition as a key factor behind the forward’s slow start at the club.
In an interview with BILD, Fritz praised Boniface’s work ethic but admitted there are fitness concerns that the club is actively addressing.
“We’ve clearly identified the topics together with Victor and accompany him from all sides. He works on the lawn without a doubt. There, Boniface shows more discipline than at the dining table,” Fritz said.
“We have clearly identified the issues together with Victor and are supporting him in every way possible.
“He accepts our support and wants to work on himself, with extra training, physiotherapy, and a modified nutrition plan. We’re working closely with him.”
Boniface joined Werder Bremen on the final day of the summer transfer window but is yet to start a game for the Bundesliga side.

The forward has made five appearances off the bench, with his longest outing being a 30 minutes spell in the 3-0 defeat to Freiburg.

So far, the 24 year old Nigerian has struggled to make a major impact, registering just one assist and yet to score his first goal for the club.
With competition for places and a need for sharpness at the top level, Boniface will need to improve his form if he is to secure regular playing time.
Werder Bremen keeps giving Boniface the support he needs, there is also a clear plan to help him return to his best.
