Samuel Chukwueze started the new year with a bang as he recorded an assist in Villarreal’s first match of the 2022.
The Nigerian international was on parade for the Yellow Submarine against Levante at Estadio de la Ceramica on Monday night.
Villarreal won the game 5-0 and it was Chukwueze who set the ball rolling with a delightful assist for Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia to make 1-0 after  eighth minute.
The 23-year-old controlled a long pass on the right, before beating his marker and sent a fine cross to Dia to head home.
It was his first league assist in 12 league game this season and he was replaced by Yeremi Pino in the 73rd minute.
Gerrard Moreno scored hat-trick, while Manu Trigueros completed the rout with the last goal of the game.
The result moved Villarreal to 10th position on the table with 25 points from 18 games.
