Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze made a triumphant return from injury, delivering a last-gasp winner as AC Milan secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Parma at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday.
Chukwueze, who had been sidelined since late December with a hamstring injury sustained against AS Roma, came off the bench to rescue the Rossoneri in extra time.
The goal not only marked his return but also a significant step toward earning the trust of new manager Sérgio Conceição.
The game began on a sour note for Milan, as Matteo Cancellieri stunned the home crowd by putting Parma ahead in the 27th minute, capitalizing on a rare defensive lapse.
Milan responded just before halftime, with
Christian Pulisic converting a penalty to level the score.
The second half saw Milan dominate possession, but Parma struck again in the 80th minute through Enrico Del Prato, whose effort seemed to have secured an upset for the visitors.
However, the Rossoneri refused to back down. Tijjani Reijnders brought Milan back on level terms in added time, setting the stage for Chukwueze’s heroics.
In the 95th minute, Chukwueze latched onto a loose ball in the box, calmly slotting home the winner to send the San Siro into a frenzy and deny Parma any points from the encounter.
The victory keeps AC Milan in 6th place on the Serie A table, with 34 points from 21 matches, as they continue their push for a European spot.
Chukwueze’s return couldn’t have been more timely, and with performances like this, the Nigerian star is proving his worth in Conceição’s plans.
