Former Super Eagles striker, Obafemi Martins has advised Samuel Chukwueze to consider leaving AC Milan at the end of the current season in order to revive his career.
Chukwueze joined the Rossoneri from Spanish side Villarreal in the summer of 2023, but the move has not gone as expected.
Despite arriving with high expectations after a strong stint in La Liga, the 25-year-old winger has found playing time hard to come by in Italy.
Since his arrival, Chukwueze has managed just four goals in 47 Serie A appearances most of which have come from the bench.
His lack of consistent minutes has hindered his form and made it difficult for him to settle into Milan’s attacking setup.
Still only 25, Chukwueze has time to rebuild his career, but Martins believes that can only happen if he moves to a club where he’ll play regularly.
According to Africa Foot, Martins suggested that even a move to the Saudi Pro League could be a smart decision, considering the growing competitiveness of the league.
“The Saudi Pro League is becoming increasingly competitive. If a good offer comes along, why not? The main thing is for him to play and become a regular starter again. Rhythm and confidence are essential for him.”
Martins also pointed out that Chukwueze’s lack of club form is starting to affect his performance at the international level with the Super Eagles.
“His decline in form at club level is reflected in his performances with the Super Eagles. He absolutely must regain his rhythm if he wants to continue to be a driving force for Nigeria. A transfer is a necessity if he wants to retain his place and perform well in the national team.”
