Ajax Striker, Chuba Akpom rewrote the history books, as the fourth Ajax player to score a hat-trick in a European competition.

Ajax faced the Polish club, Jagiellonia Bialystok, in a Europa League qualifying match, on Thursday night – It ended 4-1 in favor of Ajax.

The Nigerian forward joins a group of Ajax players, including Mohammed Kudus (2023), Sébastien Haller (2021), and Luis Suárez (2009), who have scored three or more goals in European competition.

Akpom opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a solo effort, added his second just after the hour mark, and completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot nine minutes later.

Speaking after the match, Chuba Akpom was in high spirits, stating, “It feels amazing. I thank God, my teammates, and the staff for their support. It was my best performance in an Ajax shirt.”

“Scoring is what I thrive on; it’s what I love to do, so when it’s not happening, it gets frustrating but I’m a very positive and persistent person, so I say thank you to the coach for the trust.”

Ajax will play the second leg of this qualifier against Jagiellonia next week.
