Chris Green Criticizes NFF over Finidi George

Former Chairman of the NFF’s Technical Committee Barrister Chris Green has sharply criticized the current leadership of Federation for their lack of effective strategies and support at a crucial time for Nigerian football.
In a conversation with Brila.net, Green expressed his disapproval of the NFF’s decision to consider hiring a foreign coach for the Super Eagles, especially given the recent challenges faced by local coach Finidi George.
“I’m not in support of a foreign coach for now,” Green said. “If they had got a foreign coach before this time, or when Peseiro was going, it would have been a different thing because a foreign coach would have come as an expatriate.
“An expatriate is a person that you get from outside when you cannot get that kind of person in the country. And basically, it’s just for results.”
He argued that the federation’s failure to provide adequate support and a conducive environment for Finidi, who was appointed just a month before critical matches, was a significant oversight.
Green suggested that the NFF’s decision-making process lacked foresight and coherence:
“What you have done to this young man is not right. What support did they give to Finidi George? They appointed Finidi George less than one month to crucial matches like this.
“I expect him to do magic. Maybe the judge is not the problem. The next match you want to get now. Comes in and plays a draw or loses the game. Will you sack him?”
