Chidozie Awaziem eyes a place in Turkish Cup semifinal

by Tunde Williams

Chidozie Awaziem’s Alanyaspor will face Gaziantep in the quarter final of the Turkish Cup later tonight.

Awaziem would be hoping to get some minutes under his belt after watching last weekend’s league game encounter with Konyaspor from the bench.

The Super Eagles defender is behind the preferred duo of Furkan Bayır and Fatih Aksoy in the pecking order.

The former FC Porto and Leganes of Spain defender has played just 12 games for Felipe Sánchez Mateos’s side this season and scored a goal in return.

Should Alanyaspor win the game, they’ll meet Kayode Olarewaju’s Sivasspor in the semi-final.

The match will be played at the Bahçeşehir Okulları Arena, 9pm Nigerian time.
