Super Eagles winger, Chidera Ejuke faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury during Sevilla’s 5-1 loss to Barcelona, on Sunday night.
Ejuke, who had just returned from international duty, was forced off late in the first half after feeling discomfort in his hamstring.
He was replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga in the 45th minute as Sevilla struggled to keep pace with the Catalan giants.
Sevilla manager García Pimienta confirmed the player’s condition stating that, “Ejuke is injured.”
“He has felt a twinge in his hamstring and we will see how long it lasts,” Pimienta told the club’s official website.
This injury comes at an unfortunate time for the 26-year-old, who had recently cemented his place in Sevilla’s starting lineup and regained favour with Nigeria’s national team.
Ejuke has made nine league appearances for Sevilla this season, scoring once.
His absence will be a blow to the Rojiblancos as they navigate a challenging campaign.
