Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater admitted to drinking driving at a court. The £35million footballer apologized for his actions, admitting he made a ‘huge mistake’ and that he has ‘learned a valuable lesson.’

The 29-year-old who has not played competitively for Chelsea for 13 months, was two-and-a-half times the limit when he crashed in Cheshire.

 

He was banned from roads for 20 months and given 70 hours of unpaid work.

 

After the hearing, he said ‘I feel today I have been treated very fairly and will accept the consequences of my actions.

 

‘I am keen to do the community service ordered and give something back.’

 

He was also given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
