Chelsea Sweat on Cole Palmer Fitness Ahead of Wolves Clash

Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, faces a selection dilemma ahead of Monday’s Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with leading scorer Cole Palmer doubtful due to an injury picked up during the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Palmer, who has netted 14 league goals this season, fell awkwardly following a challenge on Tuesday but managed to finish the game.

However, Maresca revealed on Friday that the England international had missed training and remains uncertain for the upcoming match.

“They kicked him, so he didn’t train today. We don’t know if he will train tomorrow,” Maresca said.

“Cole is a big player for us, and we prefer to have him, but if he has an issue, we’ll find a solution.”

The concerns don’t end with Palmer, as Maresca also confirmed that Levi Colwill and Romeo Lavia are doubts, having missed Friday’s training session due to minor issues.

Chelsea, currently fifth in the league and winless in their last five games, face a Wolves side rejuvenated under new manager Vítor Pereira.

Despite Chelsea’s commanding 6-2 win over Wolves in August, Maresca cautioned against underestimating their opponents.

“They’ve changed managers, so it’s a different approach. It’s a new game, a new way to attack and defend.”

“Hopefully, we can be ready and get the three points,” Maresca said.

The Blues will hope Palmer can recover in time to inspire a much-needed victory as they aim to revive their league form and maintain their push for a top-four finish.
