Chelsea have recalled defender Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace to address their defensive shortages following hamstring injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.

While controversial—considering Chalobah had been a regular starter for Palace, making 14 appearances—the recall clause allowed Chelsea to retrieve the 25-year-old defender before the January deadline.
