Amidst all the Chelsea fc’s transfer deadline day excitement, anxiety and the post-deadline day analysis and reflection and panic stations.
In their review of players on international duty with their respective national teams, Premier League champions Chelsea were pleased with the performance of Victor Moses in the World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on Monday evening.
Another invited Super Eagles player with close ties to Chelsea, Ola Aina, received clearance from Fifa to play against the Indomitable Lions, but manager Gernot Rohr did not want to change a winning team and left the defender on the bench for the entirety of the game at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaoundé.
Chelsea stated on their official website, chelseafc.com : ”Victor Moses was prominent for the Super Eagles who were denied back-to-back wins over Cameroon by a late penalty.
”Moses supplied a pass from which former Watford striker Odion Ighalo went close to making it 2-0 before half-time.
”He then hit the bar himself in the second half after superb work to pick a hole in the defence.
”Ola Aina was on the Super Eagles bench for the first time following the granting of clearance for the 20-year-old to become a Nigeria player having represented England at junior levels”.
