Super Eagles head coach. Eric Chelle has named his final 23-man squad for Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa next month.
Despite injury concerns from his club outing earlier this week, Stanley Nwabali has made the cut and is expected to retain his No. 1 spot between the sticks.
Meanwhile, the coach dropped 15 year-old goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, picking both Amas Obasogie and Adebayo Adeleye.
Captain William Troost-Ekong leads a defensive unit that also includes Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Bruno Onyemaechi, while Chidozie Awaziem, Felix Agu, and Benjamin Fredericks provide depth.
In midfield Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Frank Onyeka make the list. They are joined by Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and Christantus Uche.
Up front, Chelle has named a strong attack led by Victor Osimhen, alongside Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Cyriel Dessers, and Tolu Arokodare as Nigeria hunts for vital points on the road to 2026.
Nigeria has managed just one win in their last six outings, and will be looking to bounce back in style against their Group C rivals.
Super Eagles will host the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on September 6, before jetting off to Bloemfontein for a high-stakes clash with Bafana Bafana on September 9.
