In an exclusive interview with Brila.net, former Enugu Rangers coach Abdu Maikaba emphasized the need for adequate preparation to ensure the CHAN Eagles can compete effectively on the continent.
“If our CHAN team is strong enough to win an African competition I believe we will have players from the CHAN team that can be included in the Super Eagles team,” said Maikaba.
“It will be easier for us. and to get that CHAN team to be strong enough I believe the best way is adequate preparation and a lot of friendly games for the team,” he stated.
“I believe we will have a strong side that will win the competition for us in Africa and In doing that we will definitely have some players that can be useful in the Super Eagles team.”
Speaking on the possibility of an NPFL coach handling the CHAN team, he said, “If really an NPFL coach handles the CHAN team and gets to a point of maybe winning the competition in Africa, I think that coach will be co into the Super Eagles team and with time I believe he can be able to handle the Super Eagles team himself.”
