D’Tigers draw Ivory Coast, Mali, DR Congo In 2017 Afrobasket

Defending champions, Nigeria, have been drawn alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Mali and DR Congo in Group A for the 2017 Afrobasket Championship to be co-hosted by Tunisia and Senegal from September 8 to September 16.

​Nigeria will face Cote d’Ivoire in their opening game before taking on Mali and DR Congo in Tunisia​.

 

The draw ceremony held in Mauritius on Sunday pitted Angola, Central Africa, Morocco and Uganda to battle for two automatic quarter-final tickets in Group B while Tunisia, Guinea, Rwanda and Cameroon will compete in Group C.

Group D will have Senegal, Mozambique, Egypt and South Africa.

Senegal’s capital city of Dakar will host two groups and Tunisia’s capital city of Tunis will host the matches of the other two groups.

The top two teams from each group will advance to Tunis, which will also host the Final Phase (Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals) from September 14 to September 16.

D’Tigers emerged African champions for the first time ever in 2015 after beating Angola 74-65 in the final of the 2015 Afrobasket Championship in Tunisia.
