Midfielder Fisayo Dele Bashiru has downplayed taking up the jersey number 10 in the Super Eagles, stressing that his primary focus is to perform well to the team’s success.
In an exclusive interview with Brila media, Bashiru shared his thoughts while preparing for the AFCON qualifying matches against Libya.
The midfielder expressed satisfaction with his current season, noting that the call-up is a testament to his hard work.
“I’m having a decent season with one goal and one assist, which feels great for me and my career.
“Being called up to the Super Eagles shows that I’m doing my job, and it’s always good to receive a call-up,” he stated.

Nigeria’s search for a creative midfielder since the retirement of Jay-Jay Okocha has been unending, but bursting onto the scene, Dele-Bashiru fancies his chances.
When asked about potentially wearing the number 10 jersey, the versatile midfielder said:
“Whatever number I’m given, my main focus is to perform for the team.”
Meanwhile, after missing the AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Rwanda due to injury, in September, Bashiru is eager to earn a spot in the starting lineup.

Nigeria will face Libya on October 11, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, followed by a reverse fixture on October 15.
