Celestine Babayaro in UEFA Champions Match All-Star Squad

Celestine Babayaro will return from retirement, perhaps only briefly, to play in left back position for Team Emilio Butragueño in the Ultimate Champions match on Friday.

Babayaro was part of Chelsea’s 1998 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup winning team under player-manager Gianluca Vialli.

The 38-year-old former Nigeria International joins a host of European champions in one of the highlights of the UEFA Champions Festival.

The two squads for the match – which will be played on a floating pitch in Cardiff Bay – will be coached by Ruud Gullit – part of the AC Milan side who were the last team to retain the European Cup, in 1989 and 1990 – and Real Madrid great Emilio Butragueño.

Alongside the legends, NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Joel Embiid will join the parade.
