The end may be in sight for Santi Cazorla and the midfielder is set to undergo pre-season training with former club Villarreal.
A period lasting two years and containing 11 operations on an Achilles injury that became infected has kept the Spaniard on the sidelines and his contract with Arsenal runs out in June.
Therefore Cazorla will be a free agent and Movistar+ confirmed on the weekend that he will train with Villarreal, a club that he may rejoin before the new campaign.
The news is further bolstered by Villarreal ambassador Marcos Senna’s admission after the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid that the player is heading for a move back to the east coast.
Cazorla, 33, spent three seasons with the Yellow Submarine as he broke into senior football before a second spell between 2007 and 2011 that ended when he left for Arsenal.
