Ahmed Musa scored on Tuesday night in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Libya in the second-leg 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and dedicated the victory to himself as a belated birthday gift.
Ahmed captained Nigeria in back to back wins over the North Africans as the Super Eagles moved top of Group E; with two matches left.
Two days prior the former Kano Pillars winger turned 26 years.
It was a nervy victory for the three time African champions, who raced to a 2-goal lead in the first-half, but collapsed in the second half to allow the Mediterranean Knights level.
A late resurgence by the Eagles; against the run of play saw Odion Ighalo turn up with his second on the night – and his fifth over two legs – to seal the victory.
Ahmed shared a video of his goal against Libya; where he ran in behind two defenders to pick an Ighalo pass.
He still had some work to do, and he did, whizzing past three defenders and managed to squeeze a shot.
