Super Eagles Forward, Tolu Arokodare was on the scoresheet for KRC Genk in their 2-1 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise at the Cegeka Arena.
The visitors took the lead in the 42nd minute through Nigerian-born forward Promise David, who converted from the penalty spot.
David, who has opted to represent Canada level, added a second goal five minutes into the second half to complete his brace.
The 23-year-old Canadian international has now scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, playing a crucial role in Union Saint-Gilloise’s strong campaign.
Genk’s only response came deep into stoppage time when Arokodare latched onto a late chance to pull one back.
Though it was too late to rescue a point, the Nigerian forward’s goal marked his 19th in the Belgian Pro League this season a tally that places him among the top scorers in the division.

Despite the loss, Arokodare’s individual form continues to shine. The 24-year-old joined Genk from French club Amiens in early 2023 for a reported €5 million fee, beating competition from domestic rivals Anderlecht.
Since then, he has become a key figure in Thorsten Fink’s side and is expected to attract attention from bigger European clubs this summer.
Arokodare recently made his debut for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, in their 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on March 21.
He also featured in their subsequent 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe, marking his home debut for Nigeria.
Genk now sit second in the Championship playoff standings with 40 points from 34 games, trailing leaders Club Brugge by two points.
While the title race remains wide open, Arokodare’s goals will be crucial if Genk are to push for glory in the remaining matches.
