The Indomitable Lions were undeserving of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations title which they won by luck and their ouster from the FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia confirms it according to Cameroon FIFA match agent, Prince Mabengue Leonard Junior.Â
Mabengue told brila.net that the Indomitable Lions were lucky winners in Gabon and that the triumph had nothing to do with Coach Hugo Broos’ tactical genius.
In a damning assessment of the African Champions display in Russia, the match agent said the outcome of the campaign was expected and anything in the contrary would have come as a shock to the nation.
‘Maybe the Contrary would have surprised people, the Coach is not up to the task and we expected the result.’
‘The squad he (Broos) took to the Confederations Cup had only 6 players from the team that won the Afcon. The Coach lacks tactical depth and his incompetence cost us against Chile.
‘Under normal circumstances he should have been sacked after the nations cup. The Afcon we won was by the stroke of luck. The players won us the competition not him, but any decision of his future will be up to the FA now,’ Mabengue stressed.
The Indomitable Lions picked only one point after three group matches, conceded six goals and scored only two as they got dumped out of the competition on Sunday.
