Calvin Bassey scored an own goal as Rangers forced Lyon to a draw in Thursday’s Europa League game.
The Super Eagles invitee played in the central of the defense and was having a good outing, before the unfortunate owngoal.
The youngster inadvertently turned a shot from 18-year-old Rayan Cherki into his own goal three minutes after the restart.
Rangers also had a bit of good fortune in front of goal when Scott Wright’s deflected shot four minutes before the interval gave them the lead.
Bassey’s own goal is inconsequential as the Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side had already qualified for the knockout play-offs before the final fixture.
The game ended in a draw and it denied the French side a 100% winning record in the Group phase.
The Gers can look forward to the play-off draw on Monday where they could face RB Leipzig, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Sheriff Tiraspol, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Barcelona, Sevilla or Atalanta.
