Calvin Bassey’s Ajax Amsterdam career is coming to an end, with the player on the verge of completing a move to Fulham in the English Premier League.
According to reports from Algemeen Dagblad in the Netherlands, Bassey has agreed terms with Fulham, and the transfer is likely to be finalized pending a medical examination.
If everything goes well with the medical, he is expected to sign a five-year deal with the London-based club, bringing aan end to his time at Ajax Amsterdam.
Fulham was in the market for a left-footed central defender, and opted to move for Bassey over Mohammed Salisu, the Ghanaian international who is on the books of Southampton.
Bassey was not included in Ajax’s traveling squad to Germany for a training camp, ruling him out of a friendly match against Anderlecht.
The fee for the transfer is expected to be around €21 million, almost the same fee Ajax paid to sign him from Glasgow Rangers last year.
Bassey will leave Ajax Amsterdam, after 39 appearances, scoring one goal, and providing five assists.
The 23-year-old talent who came through the Leicester City academy will aim to rebuild his reputation with Fulham.
