Head Coach Stanley Eguma says his Rivers United side remain a solid side despite catastrophic defeat to Club Africain in the CAF Confederation’s Cup.
Eguma watched in disappointment his side lost 3-0 in the match day Cup at the Stade de Rades in Tunis.
The result means Club Africain top Group C with nine points from four games while Rivers United slipped to third position with six points, behind Ghana’s Dream FC who themselves defeated Academica do Lobito of Angola 4-0.
“We are also a good team despite our undoing. On a good day we gave a very good account of ourselves and I believe that the future is still bright for us.” Eguma said in his post match conference.
“We can go back and correct our mistakes and come out stronger in subsequent matches and before you know it, we will get there. I strongly believe that we will qualify from our group.”
Next for Rivers United is a trip to Angola when they’ll face Academica do Lobito in February, 2024.
